Vibrofinishing

Vibrofinishing - Also employed after heat treatment to remove burrs, deposits on the components and give the same afresh appearance. This operation is in-house.

How it works

Parts, media, and compounds are placed in a vibratory tub or bowl. The vibratory action causes the parts and media to turn and grind against each other, which deburrs or polishes the parts.

Benefits

Vibratory finishing is cost-effective, less labor-intensive, and more energy-efficient than other methods. It also generally requires less maintenance than blast cabinets.

Applications

In vibratory finishing, components are placed in a bowl with media, liquid concentrate, or weak acid, and then the bowl vibrates in a spiral motion. The type of media used depends on the desired finish:

  • Light operations: Low abrasive ceramic media is used for soft metals like zinc or aluminum.
  • Heavy finishing: High abrasive ceramic media is used for deburring, grinding, or removing metal.
  • Larger parts: Larger media is used for larger parts because it cuts and finishes faster.
  • Smaller parts: Smaller media is used for smaller parts because it has a gentler impact and results in better finishes
